American Idol

It was the show that taught America how to text message. As Executive Producer and Director of Production & Content for FremantleMedia, AlKal oversaw the original launch of American Idol on the web, interactive television and mobile phones. AlKal worked on Idol while at Fremantle for the first four seasons (2001-2004), then continued his involvement with the show while at Telescope for Seasons 5, 6, and 7 (2006 to 2008). Responsibilities included working with corporate sponsors AT&T, Ford, and Coca-Cola, FOX television, the online store, show talent, contestants, executive producers, vendors, licensees, and more to extend the mega-hit show across digital platforms and audience participation.
